Original Abstract Painting – Gilding the Fractures
20 x 16 inches • Oil and Mixed Media on Cradled Wood Panel

Gilding the Fractures is an original oil and mixed-media painting that explores the quiet unraveling that accompanies dementia and Alzheimer's disease. The fractured surface represents the small cracks that begin to appear — moments of confusion, forgotten names, and the gradual shifting of life as it was once known.

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi — finding beauty in brokenness — this piece is a reminder that even as life changes in unexpected ways, love, dignity, and beauty continue to endure. A deeply meaningful piece of textured wall art, and a thoughtful gift for a caregiver or anyone touched by memory loss.
