The Shape of Joy — Original Sunflower Painting

Some paintings make me smile every time I look at them. This original sunflower painting is one of those pieces.

Golden-yellow sunflowers, a fiery orange bloom, and sweeping teal and blue accents fill this round painting with color and movement. Expressive brushwork and visible texture give the flowers a lively presence against the dark background. Even the bloom turned away has its own beauty.

Created in watercolor and oil on a cradled birch panel, The Shape of Joy reflects my love of romancing the day to day: noticing ordinary beauty and giving it a place to shine. It's a bold, one-of-a-kind piece of floral wall art for a kitchen, entry, or any space that needs a little sunshine.
